Privacy Policy

Membership Index (“we”, “the index”) is operated by Growth Maps Media Ltd. This policy explains what information we hold, why we hold it, and what you can do about it.

Information about communities

We compile listings from publicly accessible pages on the platforms that host each community. For each listing we may record the community name, description, member count, pricing, category, and the owner’s publicly displayed name, biography, location, avatar and social media handles.

We do not store email addresses of community owners, and we do not access any content behind a login or paywall.

Lawful basis

Where listing information includes personal data — typically a community owner’s name and public profile — we process it on the basis of legitimate interest (UK GDPR Article 6(1)(f)). Our legitimate interest is operating a directory that helps people compare online communities before paying for them. We have assessed that this is limited to information the individual has already chosen to publish in connection with a commercial offering, and that it does not override their rights and freedoms.

Your rights

If a listing concerns you or your community, you may:

• Claim it — verify that you own it and have the details corrected.
• Correct it — tell us what is wrong and we will amend it.
• Object and have it removed — use the removal form. We action removal requests within seven days. Once removed, the page returns a permanent “gone” response to search engines and the community is suppressed from all future imports.

You also have the right to request access to the personal data we hold about you, and to complain to the Information Commissioner’s Office.

Information you give us

If you submit a claim or removal request, we store the name, email address, role and any message or proof link you provide, so that we can verify and action the request and keep a record that we did. We use these details only for that purpose.

Analytics and cookies

We use privacy-friendly, cookieless analytics to understand which pages are useful. It does not set cookies, does not track you across sites, and does not collect personal data. This site sets no advertising or tracking cookies of any kind.

Retention

Listing data is retained while the community remains in the index. Records of removal requests are retained after removal, because we need them to keep the community suppressed from future imports. Claim records are retained for as long as the listing is claimed.
